I think that Vulcanite was Leica's worst innovation. But I never thought of it as plastic. It seems more like rubber or asphalt. I have two Leicas with decent vulcanite on them (chunks haven't started to fall off yet). Yet, people would rather try to fix it rather than just stripping it all off and putting alligator skin on it. And don't pester us with any more silly requests" Any way I called it "plastic" and no doubt the PTB of Leica Owners Society will rip off my epalettes (sp?) and break my sword over their knees. So what is Vulcanite and why did mine all fall off in chunks?
