I see this all the time on eBay. People acquire something through some
means and decide to sell it. They have no idea what it is. A lot of
electronics, they don't even plug it into a wall socket to see if it comes
on. Fortunately, they usually list it as "untested." The only problem other
than that is that they often want ridiculous prices for some things. I
don't know where they get their cost estimates. Sometimes three or four of
the same item are listed on eBay at more reasonable prices.
This works the other way, too. I got an Omega E series enlarger (5X7)
without a negative carrier. At the time, I think it was B&H Photo that had
a custom-made one available for about $120. I bid on the item on eBay with
a limit of $120. There were three others bidding on it and it finally went
for $140. I kept watching eBay. Another showed up and I bid on it the same
way. No one else bid on it and I got it for $35.

Technikas in the model III had five different versions. I bought not
knowing whether I got a one or a five. Do I expect to be cheated? No. I
do expect them to know what is different from this camera they are selling
vs that camera they are selling, even if its as old as I am. It should all
be on their website, and it should include a picture of the actual
product. That is something KEH has never done. If you buy a camera that
is 10 years old or 70 years old, the picture you see on the site is not the
product they are selling. They are very up front about that, but in the
age of digital photography, its not an unreasonable expectation to see what
you are buying.
I had done quite of bit of research. Not all of it turned up much. IF I
get a bellows that is light tight, I am probably ok with that I got. If I
don't, its likely going back. That for me would be a first. I have never
sent anything back to KEH because I was unsatisfied. What worries me is
that I have also never been uncertain that what I bought was what I was
going to get went I bought from KEH either.
I will also be the first to admit that over the years when KEH called it a
bargain, it was likely better than that. I also don't like that I have no
idea whether I have a nice camera that will serve me the rest of my life,
or a worthless pile of poo. Odds are its somewhere in the middle. What I
don't like is wondering

Can’t expect keh to know everything about a camera out of production for 62
