[pure-silver] Re: ZONE VI VC HEAD, was No More Below the Lens Polymax Filter Kits?

Has your VC head always responded it this way? My ZoneVI VC type 1
5"x7"light source also requires that I adjust below the minimum Blue tube
setting; in fact I have calibrated the rheostat with three red lines below
the minimum setting.

Soft Max: Hard off distorted curve during plotting IDmax 1.18
Soft Max: Hard Min-3 Grade 0 Normal toe
Soft Max: Hard Min-2 1 Normal Toe
Soft Max: Hard Min-1 2 Long Toe
Soft Max: Hard Min. 2 Normal Toe

The exposure time change from Soft max: Hard Min-3 to Soft max: Hard Min. is
about 1/2 stop. As the Blue light increases the exposure shortens, some of
the time difference is controlled by the Metrolux Timers sensor, but this
does not adjust for the speed change of the paper.

With my Aristo VCL4500 I use the green tube rheostat to reduce the green
tube output to obtain Grade 4 and 5.
The Metrolux timer sensor does a good job of adjusting for the light output.
I got really lucky with my sensor placement during its install.

Polymax Filter Kits?

I've been following this thread with interest...I have a Zone VI type I VC
head, and unfortunately the soft light is so weak now that in order to get a
grade 2 I have to turn the hard light right down to almost minimum, with
ensuing very long exposure times.

Calumet have basically ignored my requests for help.

Aristo will build a new set of tubes into the head for around $1,000. I'm in
two minds whether to do this. I really like being able to print polaroid 55
negs uncropped and I haven't found an alternative enlarger that will do this
and fit in my basement.
