I had difficulty with PMK in my Jobo at first. I ended up splitting my
development in two and have not had any issues since. For example if the
development time was 10 minutes, I developed it twice for 5 minutes each. I end
using twice the developer but PMK is very cheap and worth it to me.
I’m not a PyroCat user but I know those who have great results with it as well,
Eric, If you want to get rid of your PMK, you’re welcome to send it to me...

This exchange made me wonder what to do with all the PMK I have mixed. :D

Once I switched to Jobo processing, I used PMK for a while till I learned of
pyrocat hd and made the switch to that developer. PMK can have some unevenness
in rotary whereas pyrocat seems to avoid that with all the benefits of PMK.

I was seduced into trying PMK several times over the years and always came to
the same conclusion that it was too difficult to
get away from the mottling on sheet film. Recently I have been using Pyrocat-HD
and it is for me much better than PMK.
No mottling at all and nice brownish negs on rolls or sheets that print
beautifully. The only problem I have had was recently with FP4, but
that turned out to be a problem with Edwals LFN instead.

I have been processing with PMK using this setup for years:

I do both reels and sheetfilm in these tanks. I agitate ever 15 sec. I do not
get streaking. The only time I've ever contemplated two bath development with
PMK
is for big (N+2, N+3) pushes because the dev time gets so long the developer
can oxidize to exhaustion in the required time. Fortunately, for that kind
of push D-76 or HC-110 have always been sufficient, so I haven't much worried
about
it.

The only think I've changed in my approach recently is to move to traditional
sheet film development holders/hangers instead using the Gravity Works washing
basket shown in the photo. When agitating, film in the basket can come out
of the retaining grooves and wreak havoc.
