I think part of the issue here is NFB. FS and other companies get their brownypoints with NFB, then without doing the research (the review of voiceover they did a while back is great proof of this), they tell all those agencies who inquire about the best products to use the company with the most points.
I went to the Youthslam camp a while back, (the last one that they had). We had a "tech show," of some sort, where the guy basically sat us down, told us how great the NFB was and how they were the reason we are where we are today, then covered both outdated and current technology. Since they were trying to toot their own horn, they kindly left out a good 75% of the stuff that's less popular, but just as good, if not better than the technology the NFB is pushing.
At the end of this "show," the guy basically says something to the extent that if we ever have an invention, talking to the NFB is the best thing to do because that will be what makes it popular. Which sadly enough is the truth.

Think about it for a second and you'll understand, the largest purchaser of Jaws For Windows and for that matter all other accessibility products happens from and for Government accounts. Now while Freedom Scientific will deny an active policy of discrimination (probably not written down anywhere) to support their case what has happened is what has happened. For that reason, Freedom Scientific is best always contacted with received receipt and read receipt settings both turned on. Afterwards save original email and both receipts for any future action. The Veterans Administration is the largest Agency purchaser and quantities decrease with other agencies. That is also why pricing models are where they are, the taxpayer is paying for all of what Government buys and the rest of the sales go to a smaller market that generates demand for specific Government purchases. Though I've written what is now Freedom Scientific earlier with both Government and non-Government accounts, it was first with a Government account many years ago. Another thing to do when corresponding with Freedom Scientific and similar corporations if you write from a non-Government account and have a Government account is to mention the government account email address in the message only if you wrote earlier using that Government account. That way you as a valued government customer familiarize them with your non-government email address. -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of katherine Moss Sent: Friday, August 13, 2010 10:57 To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: jaws issues:where to report?
