Good evening, My two cents. Note: I have never used Facebook chat or read the petition. 1. As a developer I really don't like to be asked to make something accessible. I like to be asked to make something standards compliant. Give me a standard, a best practice, a set of success criteria (like WCAG / ATAG) and I can design a system to comply. 2. Don't only ask for something to be made accessible to the blind. There are possibly users with disabilities other than blindness who have difficulties using the FB chat. The request should be that the FB chat component be WCAG / ATAG compliant, incorporating, but not relying on, ARIA for enhanced accessibility. For those who are unaware: WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), and ATAG (Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines), are W3C recommendations. ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) is a W3C draft (or not quite ready yet) recommendation.
