Peter have you tried that area I mentioned below? And what
exactly is the error WMP is showing?
For the Search problem, look at that post of mine sent to
Harold on how to fix the Search. Maybe that will fix your
problem.

I'll reply with more info on this later (I have to leave now),
but you may want to look around in the "Set Program Access and
Defaults" area in the Start Menu. I was able to fix strange
things before there by just toggling options. Expand all the
[arrow down] areas.

Oops my bad, thats a typo :( It is jscript.dll.
Search is blank altogether, regardless of where it is started.
WMP won't play any of it's own formats and gives an internal
error when
you try to. The files when clicked on will open WMP but they
still won't
play.
