That's strange.  So you've tried to first manually add the key, 
then register the two DLL's, then try to see if things were 
normal, before restarting?

I guess there's no appropriate restore point available.

If it doesn't, well there is always the reinstallation route. 
Though
personally I just use a different program to play the files.
