What about this: .......search for the file "Srchasst.inf" and it may be in a hidden folder. Right-click the file and "install". I still don't know the error message you're seeing when WMP tries to play a file. Plus I tried deleting the 2 XSL files and running the commands to reset them but it didn't work. It seems this one missing entry in the registry is so problematic.
