[PCWorks] Search applet and Users applet blank

I am looking at a friends pc with XP Pro SP2 installed and all latest
patches applied. The Users applet in the control panel and the Search
applet in the Start menu are both blank due to a missing entry in the
registry for JScript. I've tried regsrv32 on JScript32.dll which didn't
work, likewise all restore points are after this event.

There is also a problem with WMP not being able to play WM files, which
I think might be related to the first issue.

The repair console didn't work, msconfig did not help, and I don't want
to reinstall because nothing is backed up on a nearly full 320 gb drive.
Unless there is no other way ;)
