I've only messed with Flash once, and as he found out you can edit any text in the file by editing the associated txt file. I would have to see the path to the flash file used to give anymore info. The parameters still have to be received from the txt file. He shouldn't have to change the path, it may be a "root" path meaning the txt file can be uploaded to the root directory after he's edited it and it should work. That path would be something like: /flash.txt where the slash / indicates it's to be placed in the root directory, meaning if you wanted to actually see the file after uploaded it would be DomainName.com/flash.txt . If it is something other than that, then he can create the correct path. As for the actual editing of a flash file, you have to have a flash editor, something like Adobe Flash or Macromedia Shockwave Flash for one example. I believe they have to be changed to a .fla file, edited, then saved again as the flash .swf file. Here's some other editors/decompilers: http://www.decompiler-swf.com/ http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/edit-a-swf-file.html http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler/download.htm http://www.swf-kit.com/swftofla-decompiler.html http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_4109&sliceId=2 There's a lot of info on this page, and editing info is probably in it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash "Related file formats and extensions" -Clint God Bless Clint Hamilton, Owner http://www.OrpheusComputing.com http://www.ComputersCustomBuilt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "LarryB" I have a friend with a problem that some of you might help with. This is what he wrote: Quoting James Huggins: "I have the SWF file. I paid for it. I just want to tweak it. It was NOT designed for much flexibility. I want to fix that. This SWF file reaches out to a file called flash.txt to get the parameters for it to use. All I want to do is to be able to tell it where to get the parameters. I want to use it on my website but have different parameter files for different pages. That is not possible right now (without putting each page in it's own directory). I just want to make one tiny change. The swf currently accepts a parameter file. I want to be able to change the name of the parameter file to use different parameter files on different pages." ========================= The list's FAQ's can be seen by sending an email to PCWorks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with FAQ in the subject line.
