Always use index.html as the default first. Try it and see if it works. 
Majority of the servers use index.html as the first default and then index.htm. 
I forgot to mention in the other email that you can have more than one default. 
So, for example, the server could be set up to first check for an index.html, 
and if that doesn't exist then check for index.htm, then default.html, then 
welcome.htm, etc, etc. You get the point.
