Well, now I have to take all this back. My modem is messed up once again! It had fixed itself but started doing the same thing it did before, it changed to COM 4 and the one listed not present was highlighted, this time I uninstalled both of them.. Rebooted and the computer looked like it picked up another modem totally different than my GTW 92 one and I still could not connect..so I uninstalled that one. I cant find any CD specifically for my modem but I do have my restore disk and a VPR Matrix Device Drivers disk, but im not sure what to do with hit. I did look at the files on it and saw GTW 92 info listed and read..but for installation it was saying to install the driver CD, I looked everywhere dont find one aNd dont recall having one before. any suggestions? Another thing is that I cannot get ANY restore points that will let me go back to those dates. I dont understand that at all, it is very frustrating to me ----- Original Message ----- From: "cristy" <poppy0206@xxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 31, 2005 3:09 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: modem wont connect, help >I had uninstalled only the one that said "not present" and rebooted few > times, no success. > > Left it till next morning. > > Tried booting up and whalah, it had found the modem cause it let me dial > up..I checked it and it was on COM 3 now not COM 4, and both were listed > again, one with same name saying not present but this time the right one > was > highlighted and the COM had changed so I guess windows found it. > > Thanks for your help. > > christy > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Davisunit" <davist@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2005 10:36 AM > Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: modem wont connect, help > > >> Uninstall all listed modems, reboot. >> If you don't have a CD that came with modem, then let Windows >> recognize/install it. >> If you do have a CD that came with modem, do not let Windows install >> modem on bootup (cancel), but run the install from the modem CD instead. >> >> Terry >> >> cristy wrote: >> >>>HI everyone, >>> >>>Im a frustrated computer person tonight ;( >>>I was using my computer that is on dial up and had cut it off.
