Hello Christine,
Vista is a new operating system and some things have
different names and are found in new locations

When it first came out some devices would not works.
you may even have to buy new printer, scanner etc.

Now that Service pack 1 has released most of the bugs are fixed.

Vista is MS program for the future XP is old news and MS
will not be writing new code for it.

Some computers were sold with minimum requirements for Vista
and were worse than XP home and did not have the power to
run anything but Vista Basic.

Many of us have switched to Vista without problems.

Just don't do an upgrade to Vista from an XP computer
that process seems to be problematic.
You will have to wipe the hard drive and do a clean install
to get the best results.

IHTH
