Hi Don,
Did a full scan disk of HD, MemTest 86 of Ram, swapped out Ram, checked and
swapped out cables. Eliminated everything else and tried 7 time to install with
CD and decided it was bad. Did we miss anything essential?

With anything electronic you are lucky to get 90 day warranties. If you
purchase form a reputable store (Circuit City, Best Buy etc) you can usually
get a 3 year service contract that is not too unreasonably priced.

I am curious as to what troubleshooting steps you took to determine the XP
  install disc was bad?

  Don
