John, I see the 'tree' in startup control center.
It lists two things.  Autostart and Registry.
Under autostart, new users, it has one entry, that of Zonealarm.lnk.

I WANT to keep zonealarm.  
I prefer it to run at startup.

Under Registry, all users, Run services, it lists:
TrueVector.  I assume that goes with the vsmon.  So, I unchecked that.

I rebooted, 
and
I still have the same problem.  

VSMON caused an illegal operation.
