It may be a co-incidence - but I did do a sneak
preview of Oracle 11! with the HAL module
installed.

And that, my friend, is great as long as I'm well paid to do the
maintenance. I essentially agree with you, only I would use a little bit
different wording. Larry wants to create the software for HAL 9000. And 
every HAL needs its Dave Bowman or weird things can happen.
