I forgot another item re John Kerry's Silver Star Citation. Here is what
was written by Thomas Lipscomb

Kerry citation a 'total mystery' to ex-Navy chief

August 28, 2004

BY THOMAS LIPSCOMB

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman has no idea where a Silver Star citation
displayed on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's campaign Web site
came from, he said Friday. The citation appears over Lehman's signature.

"It is a total mystery to me. I never saw it. I never signed it. I never
approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me,"
he said.

The additional language varied from the two previous citations, signed first
by Admiral Elmo Zumwalt and then Admiral John Hyland, which differ. The new
material added in the Lehman citation reads in part: "By his brave actions,
bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty, Lieutenant (j.g.) Kerry
reflected great credit upon himself...."

Asked how the citation could have been executed over his signature without
his knowledge, Lehman said: "I have no idea. I can only imagine they were
signed by an autopen." The autopen is a device often used in the routine
execution of executive documents in government.

Kerry senior adviser Michael Meehan could not be reached for comment on
Kerry's records.

Direct violation of the Logan Act of 1824, a felony. (Prohibits U.S.
citizens negotiating with foreign powers). I also note that there has never
in history been an arrest, indictment or conviction under this act.

You forgot one element, Ralph, which the generally left-leaning press
ignores: John Kerry was not discharged from the U.S. Navy until 1978. He
could have been an agent-provocateur at the time he went to Paris and threw
the medals. He was a U.S. officer when he tried to negotiate with the
people who were THEN killing U.S. servicemen and women.

Note: I was against that war. I have never said anything against U.S.
servicemen as a class. When Ron Kovic (Born on the Fourth of July) was
pumping anti-war sentiment, I was pushing his wheelchair around San Diego
City College. He almost got me arrested. A despicable human being.

John:

I agree with your comments 100%, and I would like to add that John Kerry
made two trips to Paris to meet with the North Vietnamese delegates in
direct violation of US policy. As I understand it, what he did was a reason
for his arrest and being put in jail but his offense was ignored because of
the sentiment re: the war at that time.

I was opposed to the Vietnam war: demonstrations, the whole bit. However, I
was appalled at John Kerry's antics after he came back: Winter Soldier
hearings (which he led), adopting testimony there as his own testimony
before Congress, and IN PARTICULAR his throwing of his medals (later amended
to throwing other people's medals) over the fence/on the steps on/at the
Pentagon (I have to make these tortured construction because of how his
stories have changed.)

Also, a few weeks ago, I was introduced to the person who re-made the medals
(they were actually his, despite what he says now) for John Kerry some years
back (I have pledged not to identify the person(s).)

You are right: the people who were against the current the war before it
began are disappointed with the current state of the war. (What changed in
their mind?)

What was "the plan for winning the peace" after WWII (SS members fought
actively for seven years afterwards).

I think there are a number of us of my generation who are not at all
ashamed of our stance against the war in Vietnam as it dragged on and
became progressively more embarrassing.

The Sinclair attempt at "Stolen Honor" may not have the predicted effect
on us in light of the current situation in Iraq.
