Analog is dying on cable as well, since with 256 QAM there can be as many as 12 programs in one 6mHz wide multiplex. In the next several years all the analog cable channels will be replaced by digitals and the cable companies will provide low cost or free D to A set top boxes to former analog only customers. Most of the channels below 100 are now available both ways on my cable system at home.
