I love to have mine write sitting back to back, then pass their notebook. Their partner reads story, writes 1-3 questions, and passes it back to be answered. They may even re-write with more detail after they have answered the questions. We then read that one aloud. Beyond that I am tapped for ideas. In groups of 2 or 3 if necessary, the first student writes down a vocabulary word. The next one writes down a related word, passes the notebook back to student one who writes down another related word. I stop them about 2 minutes or so. They generally have 6 to 10 vocab words. I then have them write a story. The first vocab word is in the first line and then the second line of the sentence has the second vocab word and so on. These end up being rather good because the flow of the vocab is natural and not contrived. My Spanish classes have a great list of vocab they have created since school began. I’m looking for new ways to continue to recycle the language. They are NH-IM levels. I’m trying to stay away from just vocab activities/games but am wanting them to work on extended sentences, conversations, commenting on fotos/graphs and so on. What things do the rest do?
