I have at last grasped that I should be using the function keys to search
html! Apart from function 4 with alt to close down,I've been regarding the
function keys as redundant.....
I'm extremely grateful to you for identifying some of the gaps in my
knowledge and wonder whether you would be good enough to tell me where I
should have been looking for this information.

Glad the copy worked for you for HTML. Actually, you do exactly the same in
a text document.
I.e. holding the shift key and moving with the arrow keys will highlight
and select by line or character, and then using control-c and control-v will
do the copy and paste.
In Dolphin cursor mode, if you press function key f3Supernova will say find.
If you then type in the text string you want to find and then press the
enter key, Supernova will search for the first occurrence. After that,
pressing function keys f2 and f4 will search backwards or forwards
respectively for the same text string.
If you want to search for a new text string then just press f3 and type in
the new text and so on ...

I've now been able to copy a section from html (but not from text) but I'm
still unable to get the hhang of searching html.

In Dolphin cursor mode, you can use Supernova's search facility.
F3 allows you to type the text string you want to find, pressing enter on
this finds the first occurrence; then f2 and f4 search back or forward
respectively for subsequent occurrences.
You can also highlight text in Dolphin's cursor mode by pressing the shift
key and using the arrow keys. You can then use Windows copy (control-c) and
paste (control-v) in the normal way to copy and paste the highlighted text.

For some reason ctrl plus find doesn't work with html for me. I've just
tried with the Economist and while while I can find 'windmills' easily in
text, I cannot get any response in html...
In navigating words or phrases, I get frustrated when told 'no more words'
at the end of a line in html.
Incidentaly, I should also like to be able to bookmark and copy extracts as
in the old days....I realise that I'm hard to please but I always think its
worth looking for possible improvements.

Huw, you should be able to search for text when reading an HTML file. IN
Internet Explorer, press control +f to show the find box. To find the next
occurrence press f3. You should also be able to use the normal navigation
key strokes, e.g. control +right or left arrow to move a word at a time, or
just cursor through uncertain text you wish to examine more closely. Does
that help?

Iuse dolphin's supernova, relying on voice only.
II also appreciate html's navigability in being able to go easily to the
next or previous items as well as the availability of the contents; its a
good way to get through a short magazine quickly. My problem arises if I'm
trying to extract the nuances from a difficult paragraph containing, say
foreign names....
Because my hearing is deteriorating, I need to go back over the odd phrase
and this is easier if I use the text version, which also enables me to
search and get quickly to whatever I'm looking for. I suspect we need both
versions.

WHILE your comment is valid, it does seem unusually defeatist.
I believe we should continue pressing for a service which meets our needs -
(or someone will decide decide that we will be leaner and fitter by giving

whether sighted rreaders grasp my particular problem. As my screenreader
only reads one line at a time, it can sometimes be difficult to understand a
complicated paragraph, especially as my hearing is deteriorating and I may
wish to check specific words. (Is this a common problem or is my

well I'm flatout out not happy about the take over, the changes, the way
it's been handled and I'm pretty sure I won't be renewing my subscription
next year. Well done RNIB.
Oh and rather than just have us fill out a survey, why not just read the
hundreds, if not thousands of complaints, read this list and fix the massive
mess you made.
it's such a shame to see such a useful and well loved service be lost but
I'll bet in a few years, this won't exist anymore.

Hi all
It is now a month since some of us completed the survey. I have seen no
resulting response from NIB. Nor are we getting weekly updates any more. Is
this in the hope that the list will die from inertia? If so, it is working
very well, as the list is now very quiet.
If this is because everyone is now happy with the product this would be
great, but I would be surprised were this to be the case.
I have to say that some messages, on this and other lists, are not reaching
me for some reason, so if I have missed any response then I apologise.
