There's a really strong chance that there are no real geniuses at work here, especially where I'm concerned. When I started doing this I really despised programming and, largely, still do. But I do know that if little children can learn multiple languages without having the rules explicitly laid out before them then adults probably can, too, given the same freedom from commitment that infants do. If they can't have that freedom, then the same sorts of examples coupled with explanations of the underlying logic will have to serve. Lest you feel like an underachiever and think I might be one of those ultra-success guys, here are some of my greater failures: College drop-out Bad judgment in first marriage No continuing formal education Can't keep mouth shut Haven't made VP of anything yet At least one of my children is 'alternative' (good in my eyes, but horrible in the eyes of others) Work best alone, hate 'team' efforts, especially in matters of community Once failed to repair a customer's car. Couldn't figure out what was wrong and had to hire another shop to do the job. That's the one that beat me (starting to see a pattern of obstinacy here?) Almost flunked out of Chemistry. The night before finals, though, something in my head snapped like one of Jane Russell's brazierre straps and I managed to, luckily, ace the test because it all suddenly made sense. Cost me a week of being accused of cheating, though. You're all much more patient with learning than I am, too. So don't give up hope yet as a lesser individual has managed to grasp the same things you're currently struggling with. That fact, used in comparison, bodes well for your chances. Now all you've got to do is keep trying! And if you haven't already, take a look at Dian's VBA video courses and some of Linda's user courses. I often find the examples in these things to not be directly useful for my own work but, often, they give me ideas and certainly let me know the problems other people are fighting with in their work and that's where *my* VB, VBA and VBScript programs come from. The logic of VBA, styles, programming and so forth sometimes isn't logical to those of us without a background for it. I have no idea why my company keeps me at the job I have. It's so technical and every step forward is a HUGE struggle for me. Maybe it's my calm exterior (paddling madly below the surface while appearing calm and composed) My background is as a journalist where wild leaps of imagination rather than facts and logic are the guiding force. Having to think my way through everything is EXHAUSTING as well as DAUNTING. I feel as if I'm crawling when I need to be running. Greg (and all the rest of you techno geniuses on this list) please don't give up on us. We try...sometimes we learn. :} /g ************************************************************* You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or MicrosoftOffice@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To send mail to the group, simply address it to mso@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To Unsubscribe from this group, send an email to mso-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word "unsubscribe" (without the quotes) in the subject line.
