Never worked with wood, eh? Measure twice cut once!<g> Translated to
computers, it means you do things on your own, test, expose it to a
limited crowd, learn a little more and, once you've got it under control
and well understood, turn it loose!

But if you never do it you suffer from another little philosophical *ism:
The only thing more expensive than education is to never learn.<g> That's
where I derive the fear of work statement and your message kind of
typified what I meant. Needless work is worthy of your fear and fear of
unanticipated work can incapacitate you. You had a 'learning' experience!
