To get around that and some later posts on this thread, you could use
the WordOptions utility I wrote for Word 2000 and Word XP (2002).
Amongst the things you'll find in the report is the path to the normal
template. Look for the User Templates Path to identify where normal.dot
should be. Then, as Linda obseverves, you may have to enable the viewing
of hidden files in order to see it in Explorer. Otherwise, you can
delete it from a command prompt.
