The only time you're gonna have a classic view or standard view is if you're using Lion. Most likely you are on OSX 10.7, but just in case you're not, and are on Snowleopard, etc. you won't have that option. It'll only be the classic view, which in my opinion is easier anyway, but again, that's subjective.

I prefer this and most folk I know prefer it as well but it's easily switched if you want to start with the default vew. you can also choose to view messages in conversations or threads as they are called by some mail programs. You cn aso set the sort order of messages and you can also choose the columns to be displayed so mail is highly customizable.

Can you explain why you have to interact with everything and then get out of it. Is there a way to just go to mail, for instance without doing a keystroke to interact and then another when you finish? I like column view because you can download through a list of items and if there isa folder in the list, you can right arrow to expand it and left arrow to collapse it. icon view is good because it puts the items in neat little rows and you can just tab through them or press the first one or two letters of an item's name and jump to it. Pressing command-o will open the item and that includes folders. List view is good because it gives you all the info on an item as you down arrow through them and it also allows you to expand and collapse folders. Both guides focus on vo because that is what they are designed for but I only use vo commands when I need to read something that is not in the tab order or when I am working with web pages. The similarity between windows and the mac are striking in this. On Nov 28, 2011, at 11:39 AM, barbara jones wrote: I'm anxious to get to that point. I did find the getting started in the menu and think it is quite comprehensive but I'm new so not really sure of that yet. Happy macking, I've been doing it for almost 7 years now. On Nov 28, 2011, at 11:11 AM, barbara jones wrote: I'm doing that right on the Mac. Thanks.
