Ok, I'm starting from scratch.
Closed everything and then reopened iTunes. Pressed command-o and then...

I really am new at this. What I know about VoiceOver comes from using the
iPhone since the summer. The MacBook I just got last night.

OK well, when in ITunes, try hitting command+O.  don't worry about the menu
bar, just hit command+O.
