Well Thomas, that was most helpful, I had no idea about the two channels of
midi on the PC I/F. Unfortunately I have yet to be able to get that working
on my new system here. It worked fine for me on my other computer which was
a 466 Celeron machine. This is a 1 gHz Celeron and Asus MB running Win98SE.
I have tried everything I can think of to get the PC I/F working and it just
wont do it. I even made a new cable thinking maybe something happened to my
old one in the confusion but that wasn't it. I checked and re-checked every
conductor with a voltmeter and the cable is good. I set my X5 to PC I/F and
the correct speed internally. I am about to pull my hair out (what's left of
it) over that thing! Anyway, I really appreciate all the help and I think I
have a better understanding of it all now. Good luck to you and your music
making!!

Jim
