Hi Bill

I thank you for your shared experiences and thoughts on this problem.
I'm at least glad FS is aware of it and that it's not something new.
Well, I'm sorry for those of us who have stumbled into this problem, but
at least it's something they're aware of.

I noted that you're using a different ATI card than I am, but it's ATI
just the same if that is indeed significant. I don't know if our
monitor is LCD or not, but that's very enlightening about the difference
between LCD and CRTS. When I went to System and checked, it just said
Plug and Play monitor. I'm sure it says on our sales receipt, but is
there a way to find out if it's LCD or CRTS in system settings, etc.? I
found the resolution settings which are the same as yours, 1024 by 768
pixels.

Can you or anyone else explain to me what happens if I choose a lower
pixel resolution? What happens visually? The next one down is 800 by
600, but I'm guessing that wouldn't be that good for the sighted folks
sharing this computer. When I went into the advanced settings for the
adapter and monitor, there was a big list of combinations. I imagine I
would want to stay with 32 bit, right? It also talks about hertz. Do
you know what that means?

Just looking for the allusive needle in the haystack.

Jean
