Hi While we are comparing notes here, has anyone used their word count in Microsoft word? We downloaded the Jaws 9 update today and on all three computers we have and found that Jaws will only say Word Count box, Close button and to activate press space bar. As the cursor is on the closebutton pressing the space bar closes the box. If you use tab or arrow keysit just moves up to the line "Include footnotes and endnotes". On the laptop putting jaws cursor command on I can arrow and it gives me numberdetails but not the particulars of those numbers so it is impossible to use in this way. The original version of Jaws 9 would allow me to have the wordcount box read automatically. The three computers we have: PC running vista home premium with Word inOffice Professional 2007; Laptop running vista business and Word 2000, and aPC running Windows XP and Office 2000. To find word count we use Alt T and then W. We would appreciate your comments to see if you can duplicate. As a second issue, I was using Office 2007 on the laptop running VistaBusiness but with Jaws 9 we were finding on exiting word using Alt + F thenX, a second document was created which then prompted a command of do you wish to save the second document. This document contained only a line oftext from the original document. After Jonathan suggested using Alt + F4 to close, the "ghost" second document did not happen. I decided however to use our old office version word 2000 to avoid this issue and some locking issueswe could not get rid of since using Jaws 9. I have had no locking or no"ghost" document using Word 2000 and exiting using Alt=F then X, until today with the latest update installed. It is back to giving me the extra documentin Word 2000 which before was okay. On reading this you will be totallyconfused but I can close the document using Alt+F4 and it doesn't happen so I am not particularly worried, just letting you know that I have had ongoingissues since Jaws 9 was introduced. What be interested though if anyone has the word count issue. I ran it under Vista Home Premium, and that's how I discovered the problems. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Brandon B Sent: Friday April 25 2008 2:24AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: JAWS 9.0.2152, Not Impressed So Far me neather. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerby Hill" <kerby.hill@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, April 24, 2008 5:23 PM Subject: Re: JAWS 9.0.2152, Not Impressed So FarI'm not having any problems either so far. I think that overall it is a pretty good build, but I have only been running it for an hour or so. I will let everyone know if I have anything to report. First, Eloquence now sounds as if there is a very short echo, a bitlike a chorus. Second, when composing an HTML message in Outlook 2003, JAWS can't keep up with my typing speed; it just grinds to a halt for a few seconds then come back up again. Think I will notify Freedom Scientific and revert back to 9.0.552. However, has anyone else experienced these problems? If sohow did you fix them? I can't duplicate the problems using JAWS 9.0.552as the latest build only produces these problems. Thanks in advance. Oh yes, finally, JAWS seems to be slightly sluggish when I'm typing, and this message is only in plain text!
