Thanks for that Flor. I'll do that.

There is still a version of ETrust that is accessible to screen readers that will work with the updates. It is known as version 6.4.4. What one can do, if they're using version 7 of it, is download this version 6.4.4 from the ftp link below; then uninstall version 7 from their computer; then install 6.4.4. Unlike version 7, even the installation dialogue speaks properly through JAWS. (the user interface is much as the older one was.) And Here's the ftp link for the - accessible - MyEtrust version 6.4.4
ftp://ftp.ca.com/pub/myeTrust/test/EZAntivirus6.4.exe
I'm using it myself, having uninstalled version 7.
They are indeed aware of the improbability of access by screen readers to their version 7, as they admit it themselves now. I also have heard (privately that 'the future build' of ETrust 'will be accessible to screen readers'. (They didn't have a release date when writing that.) I have an american friend who uses it and who is in regular email contact with them - she's a campaigning sort.

On the subject of EZ antivirus. Having bought the latest version, and found its accessibility limitations, I notified their help line. They said they had passed my points on to management... but having changed my e-mail address since, and forgotten the pasword for the old one, I know not if any mods will be carried out.

Thanks for letting us know, it sounds like a fair option, I rememberusingit many years ago. I was dissapointed with EZ Trust on theaccessibilityfront because I wanted to recommend that one to Jaws users as itreallypurchasing itgives no trouble on my home PC. Fortunately I don't depend on Jaws so taking a punt at one of these counts as useful research.

Tristram,
F-Prot is available on 30 day evaluation, I took this beforeit'slast year and found it to be extremely JFW friendly and effective at stopping suspicious files in their tracks.

Firstly AVG 7 should not stop Jaws talking, I would suggest something else is at work here, perhaps you downloaded the firewall product as well, some firewalls will stop Jaws 5.1 or above from speaking, but AVG 7.0 onversion itown should not, it still should be a contender.
I can also verifiy that the latest EZ trust anti-virus isn't that accessible. This is a shame it used to be and it's not a bad package either.
The F-prot sounds like an interesting lead, if there is a demotheymay be worth trying that.
There are of course the more obvious Norton and MacAfee products, computerhave their uses but also their limitations as regards smooth running of systems and generally being able to drive them.
