So all we need to do then is: 1. Insert the Windows 7 installation disk.2. Folow the instructions, and it will be pretty much automatically installed, without prompting for any other installation media. Sorry but would like clarification so I can go ahead with the pre-order from July 15.

The no upgrades thing is no problem to me especially as we will get the full version as per upgrade price. Like Andrew I personally wouldn't consider anything other than a clean install, but this is not a majority thing though. Generally speaking this is not so big an issue for many but the upgraders as most people will only see Wiondows 7.0 with a new PC which will have IE or whatever browser the PC vendor has decided to put onto the machine. This whole IE thing really relates to the boxed retail sale market which is tiny in comparison to OEM sales with PC. The only thing that makes it a much bigger deal this time is that there are so many who want to get off VISTA and that will surely boost retail boxed sales. For anybody who has XP on a machine capable of running VISTA and is planning on the move to Windows 7.0 then it Is clean install anyway there is no in-place upgrade route for that situation, the same is true of tranisition from installed 32bit software to 64bit. The result of Microsoft's two fingered gesture to the European Union, we will not get IE8 shipped with Windows 7.0 as the rest of the world does . The result of that pre-emptive move by Microsoft is that in technical terms there won't be upgrade versions of Windows 7.0 supplied to us in Europe because they cannot in software decouple Internet Explorer from the existing setup of Windows as part of the upgrade process so technically it becomes impossible for a user to do an in place upgrade (where you have a Windows already and install of the top to upgrade it). This is very common for non-tech users. Those who hope they can doan in-place upgrade of XP are out of luck, it is only a clean install situation. The practical upshot (and possibly the silver lining) of this is that Microsoft will make avaiable the full version of Windows 7.0 to Europoean customes at the upgrade price. This will handily facilitate clean install for those who prefer to to do this but you will still be minus a browser (which would otherwise be IE8). There is also a crazy pre-sale thing happening which starts mid-July through participating dealers where Windows will be available for pre-order at very favourable pricing. The official release date by the way is October 22nd, 2009. Regards.
