You won't need any validation of Vista since you are buying a full, new version of Windows 7. It's the same version you would install on a brand new system which has never had an operating system installed. Just be sure your BIOS is set to boot from the CD/DVD. I'll let someone from S&S response to your second question. I have two questions though: 1. Am I required for my Vista DVD to validate my purchase, as well as during the actual installation, or is this only for those outside Europe who are lucky enough to be able to get the upgrade version? The thing is I don't have a Vista DVD (My Vista came preinstalled with my Compaq laptop), so if I can't get the full version at this time I'll just have to wait till the shipping date. 2. Since I use JAWS standard, will my licence work for 7 Home Basic/Home Premium, just like Vista? Perhaps Tristan or anyone at Sight and Sound can contact me off list to clarify this. Please advise as I'd like to pay the £50 rather than the full retail price if I can. The result of Microsoft's two fingered gesture totheEuropean Union, we will not get IE8 shipped with Windows 7.0 as therestof the world does . The result of that pre-emptive move by Microsoftisthat in technical terms there won't be upgrade versions of Windows7.0supplied to us in Europe because they cannot in software decouple Internet Explorer from the existing setup of Windows as part of the upgrade process so technically it becomes impossible for a user todo anin place upgrade (where you have a Windows already and install ofthetop to upgrade it). This is very common for non-tech users. Thosewhohope they can doan in-place upgrade of XP are out of luck, it isonly aclean install situation. The practical upshot (and possibly the silver lining) of this isthatMicrosoft will make avaiable the full version of Windows 7.0 to Europoean customes at the upgrade price. This will handilyfacilitateclean install for those who prefer to to do this but you will stillbeminus a browser (which would otherwise be IE8). There is also acrazypre-sale thing happening which starts mid-July through participating dealers where Windows will be available for pre-order at veryfavourablepricing. The official release date by the way is October 22nd, 2009. Regards.
