Dorothy, Which versions of Kurzweil and jaws are you using? For quite a few versions of jaws there have been scripts for Kurzweil that should stop jaws
from talking while Kurzweil is running.
Cheers
Alex

Jaws has always done that sort of thing hangs there the programme loads and

Jaws
Speaks then goes into silent mode, I do the following I exit the programme and move to my OCR, Kurzweil and start to plough through Documents and Jaws
suddenly wakes up and wants to join the act. I also think something like
real time file scanning on is working behind the scenes because even when
Jaws does speak at once or pretty soon it is after this sort of lull,I
cannot explain it any other way but I bet it happens to everyone Dorothy

That is so wierd. The exact same thing is happening on my computer. It's
been doing it for about two weeks now. It doesn't do it every single time,
but most. I unload it, reload, and hey presto... Temperamental machines!!

 Hi all,

Since I reinstalled XP Professional last week on my computer I'm having
the following problem.

I have Jaws configured to start automatically when the computer starts.
Jaws starts ok, but, with no speech. I have to unload Jaws and reload it for
Jaws to talk. I tried this with Jaws 9 and older versions but the results
are the same.

Would anyone have an idea what might be bothering Jaws?

 Cheers,
 Amro
