Yep, you're my Guinea pig... 

 

The key thing to remember with GPOs is that in order to force an
uninstall, you have to make sure that policy is set to "Uninstall this
application when it falls out of the scope of management", and then
remove it from use.  If you actually delete the policy, it might not be
able to uninstall because it can't find the GPO to reference.  You also
cannot move the install files from the original location, or it won't be
able to do an uninstall either.  Since it is simply an upgrade of the
FWC, the uninstall routines should work for the older version also.

 

If you create a "new" GPO, even if it is identical, and assign it to
that computer, it will treat it as a completely new GPO (new SID), and
re-install it.  Windows does the Uninstalls of GPOs before it does the
Installs, so you should be safe.

 

As for version identification, I have no idea, and I won't know until I
install SP1 so I can see the new version.  If you open up the FWC, and
click Help, it will give you a version number, which I would think will
change once you upgrade.  You could test it using the batch upgrade and
see what the numbers change to.
