It doesn't mount your partitions properly? Can you
post the exact error messages prior to the panic?
Either no support for you filesystem on your hard
disk, or no proper drivers for IDE/SATA or any other.
I din't know how to append tht GRUB arguments in the
options it gives in
the grub menu, by pressing "e" instead of C.. ie
where to append tht "3"

He meant the "kernel" line. If you add "single" to the
kernel line, it will boot into run-level 1.
