Dick, I have a suggestion of something you might find interesting to read.

It's one of the best essays ever written about end-user computing, in
my personal opinion, from one of my favourite authors.

It talks about Windows and Linux, and Macs, and BeOS. Haiku is the
modern open-source successor of BeOS.

It tries to explain why people spend lots of money on Windows, and a
smaller number spend even more on Macs, when there are better
alternatives, and some of them are for free.

Everyone should read it, but I think you might get a lot from it.

It's called "In the beginning was the Command Line", by Neal Stephenson.
