Kodi is not a program.

Kodi is a whole complex suite of programs, working together. A
"ten-foot user interface", multiple media-playback programs, codecs,
network protocols and clients, all to make it as easy as possible to
play media back from a network connection.

It used to be called X B M C -- the XBox Media Centre, because it
turned a hacked original black XBox into a networked media centre
computer.

It depends on a lot of stuff that is deeper in the Linux OS stack.

But it is what it is. It's a friendly playback front-end for a ton of
Linux tools.

Linux is good at this. It has lots of graphics drivers, bits of
networking, media decoders and so on.

Again, bringing all this to an alien OS would be a massive
undertaking, and would not deliver any benefit that it does not
already deliver on its native OS.

So why bother?
