Amanda,

Come on down! It always looks good to have our members at these type events and
especially with kids to show others how they can enjoy the sport/hobby too.

Depending on the weather, it could run past 3 O'clock or end earlier if it's
raining. We'll be there until the last person leaves.

We have soccer in the AM, but I had planned on bringing the kids and the
mother-in-law for the afternoon. (She got a GPS for Xmas.) I can be available
to hand-hold after 1PM, unless this is too late to be of any help.

I have two mini-cachers, ages 5 and 8. Neither has a GPS of their own. They
take turns holding mine, although it is heavy (Rino with built-in radio). They
used it to find Brawny Cub's Kids Only cache at Hawn last weekend. My 8 year
old picked up a compass in a cache today and was quite happy noting our
direction of travel. I usually put the kids in charge of decoding the hint by
hand while we are in the car and looking for any significant landmarks while
walking/searching. They are getting pretty good at looking for "likely" hiding
spots and noting "what doesn't belong." As Bridget said, I think getting your
child his/her own GPS depends on the individual child's maturity and
dedication, of which only you can be the judge.

Saturday, April 3rd is our next geocaching seminar for the County parks at
Greensfelder. So far only 4 have said they would help. Hopefully we can get
some more volunteers to help with the presentations and the "hands on" out in
the woods for those without GPS's. This is one of the events that we get paid
for by the county so it all goes into the SLAGA treasury for our future
activities.

We need about 4 people to take a section of the PowerPoint presentation
(about 10 minutes each-max) and the rest for questions and hand holding once
we're outside.
