I've done this before, but it is a kluge. It involves a change to each of the displays, so you may not want to do it. I placed a rectangle as large as the screen in the background of the display. The rectangle's foreground color and background color were the same and matched the normal background color of the screen. I set up a button to toggle a Boolean parameter on an MCIN. (We use MCIN blocks to turn tag numbers on and off on individual members of groups of displays, so they were already available. You could also use a CIN.) I then linked the fill color of the rectangle to the same parameter of the MCIN, so that it could toggle between two different colors, the "normal" color and the alternate color. When you toggle the button on the screen, the "background" changes color. If you decide to do it, you can create the necessary parts on a new display, configure them, export them, then import them into each of your current displays. Then you will have to move the imported stuff all the way to the background of each display. (You may also need to move the toggle button to a convenient location.) It's not difficult, just tedious.
