I think that splitting the list up is about the worst thing we can do. I'd like to know what everyone thinks. I'm don't have any control over either list in any way, but I do care about the future of EVTECH, and I think we should figure this out, and act together as a group. -- Eric _______________________________________________ Evtech mailing list Evtech@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://mailman.evtech.org/mailman/listinfo/evtechSet the two lists up as mirrors. Simply put both emails in the reply line? Then only have one send at a time If one dies we administer the other to send for a while. When we start getting doubles, we administer one to stop. Best of both worlds and geographically seperated.
Synchronizing the two lists would be a nightmare. There are, of course, technical means to do what you suggest but it's unlikely to work cleanly in the real world.
I'd love for the two list theory to be workable but it's likely not. Given that the old list has been very unreliable I think it best that we all move to the new list. The ideal situation would be for Jon (sheer) to gracefully bow out and hand over the subscriber list so that it can be integrated with the subscriber list of the freelist and then we all use the freelist one. The best thing that freelist has going for it is that it's not a single person point of failure. No one person can go missing and hose all of freelist. However, the same cannot be said of the old list.
