Of the top 20, only 4 were non-series films - Frozen, Titanic, Jurassic Park
and Avatar. Jurassic Park did become a series, but that wasn't known at the
time of release. Similarly there will be more Avatar films, but that didn't
matter at release.
Just 4 out of the top 20... no wonder Hollywood just wants to stick to the
tried and tested formula. It's what the public wants.
