Any trainings in Collaborative Law:
Interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce Training. September 2005
Mediation Training from The Center for Mediation in Law. Dec. 2006
What is your interest in Collaborative Law:
When I was introduced to the team approach to helping couples divorce, I
enthusiastically embraced the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce model
by taking the training in September 2005. Since then I have helped numerous
couples finalize their divorce in a respectful and dignified manner, using
the collaborative model. Mediation training in December 2006 has also helped
hone my conflict resolution skills.
I believe the collaborative team approach is the ideal format for helping
couples negotiate the challenges of divorce. The husband and wife are
individually and collectively supported by professionals and the team also
supports each other to create an agreement that works!

Area(s) of practice: I have a general psychology practice specializing inchild and adolescent problems. I have specific
experience working with children and families in which divorce has
occurred. I helped design the content of a parent education program
in Rochester that is a joint collaboration of the courts and the
mental health/mediation communities (the ACT Program) and train
group leaders. I work with children individually, with parents in
parent counseling and with families.
Any trainings in Collaborative Law: I attended a 2 day
Interdisciplinary Collaborative Family Law Training by the Atlanta
Collaborative Law Training Associates, Inc. in June of 2006. I am a
member of the Rochester Association of Collaborative Family Law
Attorneys, Inc., and have attended various functions that they have
sponsored.
What is your interest in Collaborative Law: Having worked as a
child therapist for approximately 25 years, I have seen ample
evidence of the harm that children experience in the aftermath of a
conflictual divorce. I am committed to changing the way that
divorces occur. The collaborative law process attempts to minimize
conflict and to take the children's interests seriously. I have
just begun to work as a child specialist on a Collaborative case and
anticipate that I may also be called upon to work as a coach in
subsequent cases. I am interested in communicating with mental
health professionals who have played both these roles in
Collaborative cases to discuss how the roles are different from the
role of therapist and various ethical issues. As I begin this
exciting work, I find that I have many questions.
