I'm sorry about your hearing, Julie. I know very well how depressing it is to get tested and find out one has lost even more. It is too bad Braille displays are so darned expensive! It precludes many peoplle from buying them when they really need them. I hope you can get one someway. OK, then, you have the same setup I do, then. I would like to have my braille Lite hooked up to my computer to use it as a braille display since it's currently the only thing I have. I just had my hearing aids worked on and found out I've lost about ten percent more of my hearing since my last hearing test four years ago. I know my impairment is progressive, but it's always depressing to find out how much. Anyway, JAWS is getting harder and harder to use. I'm at a 50 percent loss now, so I'm going to need to be thinking about a braille display eventually. Anyway, thanks. My Braille-Lite is not connected to my computer. I meant that my compact flash reader drive is connected on a USB port. I do not want my Braille-Lite connected to my PC. Sorry for the misunderstanding. How is your Braille Lite connected to a USB port? I definitely want more details for that! What did you have to get to make that work? I still have the serial cable that came with the unit...somewhere! <smile> I'm assuming you need some kind of adapter besides that. Please explain! <smile> Take care. -- Julie Morales Email & Windows/MSN Messenger: mercy421@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype mercy0421 AIM mercylab421 http://juliemorales.avonrepresentative.com/ Currently in Winchester Regional, Virginia Overcast, 73°F Wind:S-170° at 5mph If a pig loses its voice is it disgruntled? ----- Original Message ----- From: "siss52" <siss52@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2007 2:18 PM Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: Bookshare and Braille Lites My Braille-Lite is hooked to a USB port, but the drivers that come on a CD coonvert the USB port to a serial port. You do not put anything into the Braille-Lite, except for the flashcard, which you take from the compact flash reader after books are downloaded onto it. I hope I have said this in a way that makes sense. <smile> Sue S. ----- Original Message ----- From: "lana" <lana5@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookshare-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, June 24, 2007 1:05 PM Subject: [bookshare-discuss] Re: Bookshare and Braille Lites yes, but what do you put into your Braille Lite?
