I don't blame you, Sue, for not wanting your Braille Lite hooked up to your computer. I have used the Braille Lite as a braille display when I thought I was going to get a phone answering job, and I quickly discovered that the computer and the Braille Lite don't work very smoothly together.

Hi Julie,

I must have made a mistake in my explanation. My Braille-Lite is not
connected to my computer. I meant that my compact flash reader drive is
connected on a USB port. I do not want my Braille-Lite connected to my PC.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hi, Sue. How is your Braille Lite connected to a USB port? I definitely want
more details for that! What did you have to get to make that work? I still
have the serial cable that came with the unit...somewhere! <smile> I'm
assuming you need some kind of adapter besides that. Please explain! <smile>
Take care.

My Braille-Lite is hooked to a USB port, but the drivers that come on a CD
coonvert the USB port to a serial port. You do not put anything into the
Braille-Lite, except for the flashcard, which you take from the compact
flash reader after books are downloaded onto it. I hope I have said this in
a way that makes sense. <smile>

yes, but what do you put into your Braille Lite? Or are you saying this
thumbnail drive has a serial port?

I use Hyperterminal, found in Windows XP, and just connect my Braille Lite to a cable with one of those BIN connectors and then to what I think is my
serial port of my computer. I don't have a floppy drive for the Braille
Lite. This method works fine for me.
