I favor *focused* progress. IMO many note-takers and such incur problems
in direct proportion to their complexity and in direct proportion to the
number of roles their designers are trying to fill in a single device.

Don't you suppose that there were people who were unhappy about that too. Newer units with newer features, faster processors, more memory, etc. is just a part of doing business. If it wasn't we would still be rideing around in horse pulled carts because people would get mad if the company came out with new carts with motors on them.
It's called progress, and if it were not for progress you wouldn't be using that computer either.
