Heck, I've even had a slate and stylus that were defective! <grins> I 
completely agree--this is such a fantastic piece of technology and just 
giving up on it because one doesn't like to go to the post office seems 
awfully self-defeating to me.

Stuff happens.  I'd mail it back and let them try again.  If I gave up
on every device I've used that had a problem, I'd be back with a slate
and stylus.
