I have worked closely with a submitter when validating a book. I do not know what you have in mind by better co-operation between submitter and validator though some improvement certainly is possible. Having a email listed for a submitter is truly necessary. Having a validator's email listed when he or she takes a book seems also critical. It would allow a submitter and validator to communicate effectively if bookshare lists email when those people are working on a book. Being able to list notes about books on step 1 would also assist future validators.

This is why bookshare should give us a way to jointly work on a book. Everyone knows that we are not trying to breach any agreement, we are just trying to do our jobs. The present method of having one person scan and another person validate a book without ever jointly working together, limits our ability to do a good job.Just my thoughts. But there are just cases where a validator has to give up the work. Maybe he or she is sick, but why should all of the inital work be lost? Maybe there are personal circumstances where the validator needs time off. Maybe there are circumstances in the book where the validator can do most of the work, but then the rest has to be finished by someone who can look at the print book. The system as it is now doesn't allow for the latter to happen because you can't share the file. And lots of times I am happy to add finishing touches to a carefully validated book, but I would not want to be responsible for validating the entire thing. With an option to release the book but save the changes, more of that kind of work would be possible. Jamie in Michigan Currently Reading - Snipped in the Bud by Kate Collins I'm an eBay affiliate!
