Hi, Bob.

I always move the page numbers that are on the bottom to the top.
I can't remember when, but it was a long time ago, but then again I've only
been here a year, so it can't be that long... but I digress.

Here's how it was explained to me, sometime, by someone: Suppose you've
got a student reading your book for a class. A young student, a more mature student, it doesn't matter. If this student is reading using braille and the teacher says, "Turn to page 100, class," and he/she searches for "100" how does he/she know where to go from there? Go back because the "100" was at the bottom of the page, or logically go forward because the "100" was at the top of the page? That's how it was explained to me and allow me to digress once more and declare that I hated being a student, always, so don't make it harder than it is.

I do it this way, when I am at the bottom of page 100, I go forward to the top of the next page and insert "101" and continue on my way. When I get to the bottom of that page "101" will be sitting there, I leave it, for now, and go forward to the
top of the next page and insert "102" and on and on...

When the book is done, I do some pretty hairy Searches and Replaces. Search for, first, any three digits (^#^#^#) followed by two "Enters" (^p^p) followed by one page break (^m). Replace with one "Enter" (^p) and the page break (^m). Then, you can search for any TWO digits with everything else the same. The first Search and Replace gets rid of the old page numbers on the bottom of the page that I didn't delete, from page 100 on up. The second Search and Replace
takes care of pages 10 through 99. The pages before that, I do manually.

And where did I lose anybody? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? Anyone? (chuckle)

Okay, there seem to be a lot of folks moving page numbers to the top of pages. I don't do this because it's a real pain and I'm not sure it's necessary.

However, if it's necessary then I wish bookshare would require it, and I'd do it (grumbling the whole time).

But, I'd like to hear from others as to whether or not they move page numbers to the top of pages, and if so then why.
