Mickey Your question has me a bit baffled. Are you asking how to clear the field itself or how to shorten the text and not lose the intended meaning? What I do is this: load the current short synopsis into a word processor or text editor and cut it down to around 195 or so characters. Then, using normal editor commands, delete the entire text of the short synopsis as it is currently and then cut and paste the new one. As for the latter, that is trial and error as there is no right or wrong synopsis. Avoid, if possible, references to the book's title, unneeded "a" and "the", flowery langauge, and the such. Believe it can be done though it can be a struggle. Remember, the point is to tell someone unfamiliar with either the title or author just a bit about the book. If there is a long synopsis also, then this is less important. And if categories are indicated, you needn't mention references to that if space is critical. It's an art, not a science; and remember with the web at hand and the book itself just a click away without cost, someone can always do further searches or just retrieve the book itself. Hope that this addresses something you were after. If not, or clarification is needed, ask and someone most certainly will jump in.
