I had read a long time ago that you shouldn't clean computer monitors or TV
screens with regular glass cleaners because they would damage the coating
that the manufacturer applies to reduce glare on the screen. Do scanners
have a glare reducing coating or something else that would necessitate not
using normal glass cleaners? Guess I should read my documentation that came
with my scanner.

One low-tech possibility could be that the scanner needs a bath. <grin> They
can get dust and fingerprints etc on them after a while. It's good to use a
glasscleaner, like maybe that kind of Windex that has vinegar in it. I've
heard you shouldn't use normal Windex, but I usually do and I get very clean
scans.
